Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the questions we get the most!
Don't see your question?
Reach out to us using the contact form on the Contact Us page.
How big can the passenger be?
The recommended height for riders is from a minimum of 3 feet tall (91 cm) to a maximum height of 5 foot 6 (168 cm). Recommended max weight is 150 pounds (68 kg). Learn more about weights and stability.
How comfortable is the ride for my child?
Luci's first words after sitting in it for the first time ever were, "just leave me here!" Like Luci, most children are comfortable right away. We designed the molded seat, harness systems, and more around children picky about comfort and have found a system that works for most. The chair also sits on suspension that soaks up the bumps in the trail along with the fat-wheel design that also helps smooth the ride. More than that, as you learn brake control as the Sherpa, you'll also be able to enhance comfort simply by slowing the descent over obstacles and such.
How do passengers with low tone or poor trunk control do in the seat?
The founder's daughter has virtually no trunk strength, so it has been well-tested for that. The seat features four reclining positions that help a child lay back a little more easily. The four-point harness helps keep your child's trunk in place, mesh sidewalls help pick up the slack and a pommel molded into the seat helps prevent their bottom from sliding forward. We also offer a Trunk Support accessory to help keep the passenger centered and supported in the seat.
Do you accept funding from insurance, nonprofits or other organizations?
We accept payment from insurance and organizations that accept our product. The first step is to reach out to any local organizations that provide funding or your insurance and ask them if they cover the Huckleberry Hiker. We are happy to work with them however necessary.
We recommend you make your case to your caseworkers about your need and how you'd use a Cascade Cart. We've heard of caseworkers pulling a 180 after a well-reasoned and passionate plea. Compare to things that are available and tell how this will improve your family's life.
If you are working with insurance or an organization please let us know and also have the organzation contact us so that we can track all information
How does it feel to walk with a Cascade Tandem Hiking System?
"Different" is the word we hear most often. It takes a small adjustment period to get used to keeping the sway out of your walk for rider comfort. It's also an adjustment to learn to turn. It's more of a sidestep motion than a pivot since you're tied to the static frame. And just like driving a trailer, you'll need a little extra room to make turns. But most find they adjust quickly and enjoy the overall feel, solidity and balance of the Cascade.
How can I try one before I buy?
You're welcome to come to our headquarters in Cache Valley, Utah to try one out. We also travel all around the world to offer cart demos that allow you to try the cart in person. You can see upcoming events on our News + Events page.
If you'd like us to do a public demo in your area, you can request a demo here. If none of these options work for you, we recommend making a purchase and trying it for yourself. We have a 30-day return policy whether it looks used or not.
Can I return my Cascade cart if it doesn’t work for my family?
Yes, we offer a 30 day return policy. We want you to fully understand and experience your Cascade before you decide to return it, so we’ll go the extra mile with you to make sure that happens. View our full return policy.
